Ambassador Hiramatsu attended the convocation of New Delhi Institute of Management

On February 17, Ambassador Hiramatsu attended the convocation ceremony of New Delhi Institute of Management(NDIM), a private postgraduate business school located in South Delhi. In his address on the occasion, Ambassador Hiramatsu encouraged nearly 500 graduates who are going to play an active part in the field of business, introducing them to Japan’s tradition of Mono-zukuri, or manufacturing, and spoke about long-standing Japan-India relationship in the traditional Japanese Culture. He also participated in the prize giving ceremony for high achievers, and handed over the graduation certificates to individual graduates.
In this convocation, Honorable Shri Pranab Mukerjee, former President of India, was invited as Chief Guest, and Mr. T.K.A. Nair, former Advisor to the Prime Minister of India, attended as one of the Board of Directors of NDIM. In his convocation address, Mr. Mukerjee showed his deep appreciation for Japan’s long-term support since the Independence of India and mentioned that Japan, in spite of shortage of natural resources, grew rapidly after the end of WWII and became Asia’s only G8 member with cutting-edged technology. When he also mentioned that Japan had attained its present high stature owing to the accumulation of its technological power and well-organized education system, there was a huge applause by all the participants.
