New Grassroots Grant Assistance Project to be signed in the amount of 8.4 million Yen

The signing ceremony of a new Grant Contract for “The Project for Construction of Skill Development Center for Women and Youth in Baran, Rajasthan”, under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP), will be held on 19th December 2017, at the Embassy of Japan in New Delhi.
In this ceremony, the Grant Contract will be signed between H.E. Mr. Kenji Hiramatsu, Ambassador of Japan to India, and the representative of the recipient organization, ‘Centre for Community Economics and Development Consultants Society’.

The Government of Japan offers a financial assistance scheme called “the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP)” for development projects designed to meet the diverse basic human needs of the people in developing countries. Since 1989, the scheme has been supporting relatively small-scaled projects implemented by non-profit organizations, such as, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and educational and medical institutions, through Japanese diplomatic missions in developing countries.

This project, to be signed at this ceremony, the amount of which totals 8.4 million Yen, will construct a vocational training center for poor women and youth in Baran, Rajasthan.

The Government of Japan hopes that this grant will help improve the lives of people in the project area, and further strengthen the friendly relationship and cooperation between Japan and India.
