2017/11/16
On 15th November, Ambassador of Japan to India, H. E. Mr. Kenji Hiramatsu, held a reception to congratulate Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) on receiving Japanese Foreign Minister's Commendation. FICCI was represented by its incumbent President, Mr. Pankaj Patel, as well as Past Presidents, Dr. Jyotsna Suri, Mr. R. V. Kanoria, Mr. Harsh Pati Singhania, Mr. Onkar S. Kanwar, among others.
Each year, Foreign Minister’s Commendations are awarded to individual and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields, in order to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries and areas.
Foreign Minister's Commendation was conferred upon FICCI in recognition of its distinguished service toward promotion of Japan-India economic relations, most notably through its India-Japan Business Cooperation Committee that has continuously held dialogues with Japanese business representatives since 1966.
Ambassador Hiramatsu, in his congratulatory remarks, acknowledged the work of Joint Meetings of Japanese and Indian Business Cooperation Committees, led by Mr. Onkar S. Kanwar and Mr. Rohit Relan, Chair and Co-Chair of FICCI’s India-Japan Business Cooperation Committee, respectively. Ambassador Hiramatsu went on to illustrate FICCI's wide-ranging contributions beyond business interests, such as feeding business voices into the 2011 conclusion of Japan-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, revitalizing the India-Japan Forum of Parliamentarians in 2016, convening the 1st Japan-India Tourism Summit in 2016, promoting bilateral women empowerment consultations through the support of FICCI Ladies Organization in 2017, and so forth.
On behalf of FICCI executives, Mr. Pankaj Patel in his acceptance speech explained how the Commendation would motivate FICCI to work harder, thereby renewing his commitment to energizing the Special Strategic Global Partnership between Japan and India with a variety of activities.
