Presentation Ceremony of Foreign Minister’s Commendation for FY2017

2017/10/10
On 9 October, 2017, Ambassador Hiramatsu hosted the Presentation Ceremony of the Foreign Minister’s Commendation for FY 2017 at his Residence, and conferred it upon the Biyani Group of Colleges (BGC), Jaipur, Rajasthan.

Brief information about the Biyani Group of Colleges and its achievements is given below:
--------------------------------
Biyani Group of Colleges, established in 1997, provides science and technology education, especially for girl students, in Jaipur, Rajasthan. They regularly organize academic research exchanges between Japanese Universities, such as, Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST), Saitama University, and Kyushu University. Besides, every autumn, they also organize an academic event called BICON (Biyani International Conference), to which many Japanese academicians, including young scientists and graduate students, are invited to participate. Their great contribution to enhancing grass-root level people-to-people exchange is the reason why they were chosen to receive the Foreign Minister’s Commendations for FY 2017.
--------------------------------
At the Presentation ceremony, held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, Ambassador Hiramatsu made an address to acknowledge the contribution of BGC towards India-Japan people-to-people exchange in the field of Science and Technology. Dr. Shivraj Singh, President, International Network for Cancer Treatment and Research, India, made his congratulatory remarks. Professor Manish Biyani from BGC (who received his PhD from Saitama University and is currently Research Associate Professor of JAIST), expressed his profound thanks for the commendation.

After the completion of the Presentation Ceremony and group photo session, Ambassador Hiramatsu also hosted a lunch for the guests.

BGC’s projects on education and research would contribute not only to people-to-people exchange in the field of Science and Technology, but also to the promotion of science education and women’s empowerment. The Embassy of Japan would continue to encourage their projects and also make efforts to highlight the valuable activities conducted by other organizations.
