Ambassador Hiramatsu’s Visit to Mumbai

On 26th May, Ambassador Kenji Hiramatsu made a visit to Mumbai in the State of Maharashtra.
Ambassador Hiramatsu met famous Indian actor, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan.
Ambassador Hiramatsu praised Mr. Amitabh Bachchan's long-term contribution to the Indian film industry and his dedication towards tackling several humanitarian issues.
They discussed how to expand cultural exchanges between Japan and India, including in the field of films, and agreed to work together for the enhancement of bilateral relationship between the two countries.
Mr. Abhishek Bachchan, son of Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, was also present.

On the same day, Ambassador Kenji Hiramatsu attended the Mumbai Branch Opening Ceremony by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC).
Ambassador Hiramatsu stated in his speech that Japan now ranked as one of the biggest investors in the manufacturing sector in India and was extensively contributing to the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Skill India’ initiatives by the Government of India.
Ambassador Hiramatsu also mentioned that the State of Maharashtra was one of the most important states in India for Japan, and expressed his expectation that the economic cooperation between Japan and India will be enhanced furthermore.
