Japanese biggest credit card company helps India go cashless ~Ceremony by JCB and NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) ~

On May 4th, Ambassador Kenji Hiramatsu attended the ceremony on the business cooperation by JCB, Japanese credit card company, and NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India)  at Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi.
 
Ambassador Hiramatsu stated that investments to India by JCB will open a new dimension of Japanese investments and contribute greatly to ‘Digital India’ initiative of the Government of India.
 
Ambassador Hiramatsu also expressed expectation in his speech that the cooperation between JCB and NPCI will boost tourism and support the expansion of ‘people to people exchange’ between both countries, pointing out that this year 2017 is marked as ‘the Year of Japan-India Friendly Exchanges.’
 
In this event, speeches were also delivered by Mr. Ichiro Hamakawa, President and CEO of JCB, Mr. M. Balachandran, Chairman of NPCI, and Mr. A. P. Hota, Managing Director and CEO of NPCI.
