On April 19, Ambassador Hiramatsu attended “The Launch Ceremony of Joshi Konoike Transport and Infrastructure”, organized in Delhi, by Associated Container Terminals Limited and Konoike Transport Co., Ltd. Along with dignitaries, such as, Major General V. Namgyel, Ambassador of Bhutan, Mr. Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog, Mr. Mohammad Jamshed, Member Traffic, Railway Board, Mr. Rajesh Rajan Joshi, Chairman, Associated Container Terminals Limited, Mr. Takashi Tsuji, Chairman, Konoike Transport Co., Ltd., Mr. Tadamasa Ishida, Chairman, Japan Freight Railway Company, Dr. Bibek Debroy, Member, NITI Aayog, many Japanese and Indian private companies participated in the ceremony, and indicated their expectation for the development of rail freight transport in India. Ambassador Hiramatsu expressed in his speech his hope that this Joint Venture would improve rail freight services in India, and help to support the Indian economy in the field of logistics.
