Inauguration Ceremony of Vocational Training Center in Assam

The inauguration ceremony of “The Project for the Construction of a Vocational Training Center for the Poor Women in Kamrup, Assam”, under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP), will be held on 27th April 2017, at Kamrup, Assam.

The ceremony will be attended by Mr. Krishna Sharma, Vice President of Assam Centre for Rural Development, the recipient organization of this grant, Mr. Naba Kumar Doley and Mr. Pallab Lochan Das, Minister of State (Independent Charge), State Government of Assam, and Mr. Kenko Sone, Minister - Economic, from the Embassy of Japan in India.

The Grant Assistance for Grassroots Project scheme was established in 1989 to meet the diverse basic human needs in developing countries. The Government of Japan has supported India in projects such as construction of check dams and school buildings, as well as provision of eye surgery equipments.

This project, which amounts to a total of approximately 10 Million Japanese Yen, supported the construction of a vocational training center for the poor women in Kamrup, Assam.

This project, through the construction of a vocational training center, will enable the organization to deliver skill development training to the poor women and help them become economically and socially independent.

The Government of Japan hopes that this project will contribute to improve the quality of living of the people in the project areas, and will further develop the friendly and cooperative relationship between Japan and India.
