Send-off for participants of SAKURA Science Plan High School Batch
2017/4/18
On April 15, a send-off for participants of SAKURA Science Plan High School Batch was held at the NCERT Campus. Ambassador Hiramatsu attended this occasion to encourage them and, during his interaction with the participants, answered their various questions, ranging from the relationship between Japanese culture and technology development to individual topics such as clean energy and climate change.
The Batch, consisting of 66 students from 14 states and union territories of India, left for Japan by the Saturday night flight. They will visit JAMSTEC, Miraikan, University of Tokyo, Shizuoka University, SUZUKI headquarters and Hamamatsu Photonis, along with cultural visit to Kamakura, the old Samurai capital. They will also be given a special lecture by Dr. Masukawa, 2008 Nobel laureate in Physics, at Koyo High School, Nagoya City, which he graduated from.
We hope that Japan attracts the junior scientists and they enjoy Japan's beautiful spring season as well as science-related programs.
