Workshop on Transfer of Technology under Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) Project

On April 12, a “Workshop on Transfer of Technology under Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) Project” was organized at the India Habitat Centre, by the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Railways, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Embassy of Japan, and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). Along with Mr. Abhishek, Secretary, DIPP, and Mr. A.K. Mital, Chairman, Railway Board, many private companies from both Japan and India participated in the workshop, and had a lively discussion on how to develop business collaboration between Japan and India in the MAHSR project. Mr. Yutaka Kikuta, Deputy Chief of Mission and Chargé d'affaires, Embassy of Japan, emphasized that MAHSR is creating a new industry in India, and expressed his hope that the workshop turns out to be a welcoming catalysis to a much higher level of cooperation between Japan and India.
On April 13, the Government of India and the Government of Japan had a candid discussion in the “Make in India” taskforce, a meeting to coordinate policies of both governments to realize “Make in India” in MAHSR, based on the outcome of the workshop on April 12.
