Send-Off Reception held for newly assigned MEXT scholars

2017/3/29

On March 29, Ambassador Hiramatsu held a Send-Off Reception at his residence, for newly assigned MEXT Scholars, who are going to Japan this April. Along with 14 newly assigned MEXT scholars, previous MEXT scholars, representatives from Japanese companies, universities and government agencies also attended this reception.

Participants from Japan provided useful advices for students regarding not only their research in university but also their daily life in Japan. For most of the newly assigned MEXT scholars, it was the first time to have a taste of Japanese cuisine. So, they enjoyed the food and seemed to be interested in its ingredients and how to cook it. Followed by the reception, an orientation session by previous MEXT scholars was held, in which they gave cordial advice for the new students, especially from the Indian persons’ point of view. This helped the new students to understand the methods used in Japanese laboratories and also how to follow the guidelines in their daily life, so that they do not face any problems during their stay in Japan.

The newly assigned MEXT scholars are expected to arrive at their destination till April 7, and start their study / research in Japan. We wish them all the best!
