Book of Condolence for Japan Quake Victims (Gratitude and Outcome)


The Embassy of Japan wishes to express its deep gratitude to all the individuals who kindly took the time to sign the Book of Condolence for Japan Earthquake Victims, kept open at the Embassy from 16th to 23rd of March 2011.

Among the several dignitaries who signed the Condolence Book was His Excellency Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who visited the Embassy on 17th of March, followed by His Excellency Mr. S.M. Krishna, Minister of External Affairs, on 18th of March. Also, many important officials of the Government of India, members of the diplomatic corps including ambassadors, Japanese nationals, and other Indian citizens kindly signed the Book of Condolence. The number of persons who signed the Condolence Book totals up to 295 (115 Japanese and 180 non-Japanese).

The Embassy is highly appreciative of these gestures of sympathy and shall duly convey all of these messages to the Government of Japan.
