The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme is an opportunity for young college graduates to assist with international exchange and foreign language education throughout Japan, as either Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) or Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs).
Founded by the Japanese government in 1987 to help promote internationalization with rural Japan, the JET programme has grown to become one of the largest cultural exchange programmes in the world, currently having over 60,000 alumni from all over the world. In 2017, there were 5,163 participants on this Programme from 44 countries, including 2 participants from India.
This year, the Japanese government is going to recruit 2 (TWO) JET participants from India. Please see below for further information, download the application documents, and apply!
1. TYPE OF POSITION
Applicants may apply for the following position:
- Coordinator for International Relations (CIR): 2 (TWO)
Participants engaged in internationalisation activities, CIRs are placed in international exchange departments or bureaus of Contracting Organisations.
One of the CIRs is to be placed in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, and especially engage in promotion of friendly exchanges between Matsue City and the State of Kerala. (Applicants must be either from the State of Kerala by birth or have lived / be living in the State of Kerala.)
The other CIR is to be placed in Okuizumo Town, Shimane Prefecture. (There is no restriction regarding birthplace or residential state, the only condition being that the applicant must have an Indian Nationality.)
* Please note that CIR applicants must have a functional command of English, Japanese (Japanese Language Proficiency Test N1 or N2 is desirable), and either Hindi or Malayalam language.
